Rollers and Drums for Steel & Metal Processing

Operating conditions

Heavy Loads, Hard Surfaces

Metal processing lines run steel and aluminium strip, sheet and bar under high pressure. Rolls need hard, wear-resistant surfaces and precise geometry, and service centres need sharp slitting knives and shear blades to cut clean.

  • Pinch, guide and table rolls ground to tolerance
  • Hard chrome for wear resistance
  • Heavy shafts and turned parts for line equipment
  • Grinding of slitting knives and shear blades

FAQ

Questions From the Steel & Metal Processing Industry

Do you make rolls for coil processing lines?

Yes. Pinch, guide, table and process rolls, ground and chrome-plated.

Do you grind slitting knives and shear blades?

Yes. Slitting knives, guillotine shear blades and other industrial blades.

Can you make heavy shafts for mill equipment?

Yes. Shafts up to 6,000 mm and 12 t, turned and ground.

Rolls, Shafts and Knife Grinding for Metal Processing

We supply process rolls, chrome rolls, large rollers and heavy shafts to steel and metal processing companies, and regrind rolls, slitting knives and shear blades through our grinding service.

For worn rolls, see roller repair. Send your requirement via the contact page.

Rolls in coil and strip processing

Coil processing lines, such as slitting lines, cut-to-length lines and tension levellers, use pinch rolls, deflector rolls, guide rolls and table rolls to move strip through the line. Steel mills add heavy transport and table rolls. These rolls carry heavy loads, need hard surfaces and must keep their geometry so the strip runs straight and unmarked.

Knives and blades

Service centres depend on sharp tooling. Our grinding department regrinds circular slitting knives and long guillotine shear blades, restoring a clean cutting edge that reduces burrs and scrap. Regular knife grinding is one of the simplest ways to keep cut quality high.

Heavy shafts and turned parts

Beyond rolls, metal processing equipment uses heavy shafts, discs and turned parts that our heavy lathe handles up to Ø3,200 mm and 12 tonnes. Parts can be hardened, ground and hard-chrome plated on the same order, then documented with EN 10204 3.1 certificates.

Hardening and chrome for wear

Rolls that run against steel strip need hard surfaces. Depending on the application, we specify surface hardening of the roll body, hard chrome plating, or both, followed by grinding to final size and finish.

Typical enquiries from metal processors

  • Pinch and deflector rolls for a slitting or cut-to-length line
  • Regrinding of slitting knives and guillotine shear blades
  • Heavy shafts and turned parts for line equipment
  • Rechroming and regrinding of worn process rolls
