Paper machines run fast and wide, and every roll is in contact with the web. Runout, imbalance and surface defects show up directly in the paper as streaks, wrinkles and breaks. Rolls need regular regrinding and recoating to keep quality up.
- Runout to 0.01 mm and surface finish to Ra 0.2 µm
- Hard chrome for wear and corrosion in wet sections
- Rubber and PU covers for press and nip rolls
- Balancing for high-speed rolls
- Regrinding and rechroming during shutdowns

What Matters Most, and How We Deliver It

Process Rolls and Roll Service for Paper Mills
We manufacture new press, calender and guide rolls for paper, board and tissue machines and converting lines, and service worn ones through roll grinding, rechroming and recovering.
Grinding, chrome and covering all happen under our control, so rolls come back from service true, smooth and balanced. Send your roll drawing or service request via the contact page.
Rolls throughout the paper machine
From the forming section to the reel, a paper machine contains dozens of rolls: press rolls that remove water, dryer section rolls, calender rolls that give the sheet its finish, and guide, carrier and spreader rolls that keep the web running straight. Converting lines add coating, laminating, embossing and winding rolls. Each roll type has its own surface and precision requirements.
Why regular regrinding matters
Rolls lose their geometry and surface over time. Press rolls lose their crown, chrome wears through, and covers harden or crack. Even small changes show up as moisture streaks, caliper variation or web breaks. Regular regrinding and recoating during planned shutdowns restores rolls to their original specification and keeps quality stable.
One supplier for the full roll service
Grinding, hard chrome plating, rubber and PU covering and dynamic balancing are all part of our roll service, so a roll does not travel between different shops during a shutdown. Every roll returns with documented runout and dimensions, ready to install.
Shutdown planning
Tell us your shutdown dates when you plan roll service. Rolls can be sent ahead, refurbished and returned in time for restart, and spare rolls can be built so one is always ready.
Typical enquiries from paper mills
- Regrinding and rechroming of calender and guide rolls during a shutdown
- New guide and carrier rolls built to the mill's drawings
- Recovering of press and nip rolls with new rubber or PU covers
- Rebalancing of rolls causing vibration at higher machine speeds
Each roll returns with a report of its finished diameter, runout and surface finish.
